How Individual Counseling for Depression Works
The first step is to schedule a free consultation where we can find out if we’re a good fit and if counseling for depression can help you. We’ll talk about the reasons you are wanting counseling and about what outcome you would like out of counseling.
At the beginning of our time together, we’ll explore in more detail your history, depressive and other symptoms, and reasons for seeking counseling. I will ask questions and listen to you as you share your story. You are welcome to ask questions about counseling too!
In following sessions, we will work together to craft goals and a plan for what you want to work on in counseling with me. We’ll talk about some challenges you may face and ways to manage them. We will begin working on how to alleviate your depressive symptoms.
In our following sessions, we’ll keep working on the goals you created at the beginning of counseling. If your depression issues don’t get better, or if new issues come up, we will address those issues as well. We’ll keep track of your goals and make changes if we need to.
