Frequently Asked Questions

+ Do you keep what I talk about confidential?

What you talk about in therapy stays confidential. It is very important that you be able to trust the therapy relationship, and I am legally and ethically obligated to keep your private information protected. I treat your information with care and concern. I am only able to release information if you sign a Release of Information (to your physician, etc.) for a specific person, and we usually talk about what you want me to share first. There are a few rare exceptions to confidentiality that involve health and safety of you and others. When we work together I will clearly go over these exceptions so that you understand those limitations. Other than that, your information stays confidential.

+ What if I need to cancel my appointment?

Of course I understand that things come up that can cause the need to cancel an appointment. Please notify me 24 hours prior to an appointment if you need to cancel or reschedule. If you contact me with less than 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule, you will be charged half of my regular session rate. If you miss the appointment without prior notification, or if you cancel within one hour of the appointment, you will be charged the entire session fee.

+ What if I'm in crisis and need to speak with someone now?

I am not a crisis counselor, and as such do not offer after-hours crisis care. If you feel you are in crisis or in a life-threatening emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. You may also contact MHMR of Tarrant County at 800-866-2465 or the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 988.
