Counseling for Anxiety

Anxiety can feel debilitating. Counseling for anxiety can help symptoms feel more manageable. If you worry about many different things, or social situations, or if you feel panicky and it is hard to concentrate, you may be struggling with anxiety. Anxiety can also show up as irritability, trouble sleeping, feeling on edge, or having muscle aches.

Anxiety is particularly tricky because it can seep into almost all daily activities. Worry can spiral out of control, and what might seem to others to be a small issue feels massive to you. Anxiety is a common mental health issue and is treatable. You do not have to keep feeling this way, and I am so glad you are considering treatment for anxiety!

You deserve to feel less anxious.

You may feel like you are losing control. That you can’t stop thinking negatively, and you are so exhausted from the constant thoughts running in your head. Others, even those closest to you, may not get why you feel so anxious. You may worry there is someting wrong with you.

It is so important and meaningful that you are thinking about counseling for anxiety. Counseling can help create better, more manageable coping strategies, validate and normalize your experiences, and help you work on having a healthier relationship to your thoughts, yourself, and others. Feeling less anxious is possible.

How Individual Counseling for Anxiety Works

The first step is to schedule a free consultation where we can see if anxiety counseling is a good fit for you. We’ll talk about your anxiety, reasons for wanting counseling, and what you hope counseling will help you gain.

During the first part of our work together, I will ask questions and also give space to listen to your story. We will look at your anxiety and other history, and you are welcome to ask questions about anxiety counseling as well.

In following sessions, we will work together to create counseling goals to address your anxiety. We will make sure to focus on what you desire as the outcome of counseling. We will begin the work of lessening your anxiety symptoms.

Next, we will continue to work on the goals you created at the beginning of counseling. If your anxiety concerns do not improve, or if new concerns come up, we will address those issues too. We will review your goals and make changes as needed.
